AMERICAN CULTURE IN GERMANY

American culture worldwide. Globalization works in many different areas. Examine how American culture is present in our lives.

  1. American culture is present in almost every country in one way or another. McDonalds, Wendy's and Taco Bell are just three examples that anyone in any country can most likely look down the biggest city in their country and see at least one of. The golden arches are unmistakable and known to a large majority of the world. Also, the fashion of America is wide spread throughout the world. T-Shirts and jeans are commonplace for apparel. Most of them are either from America directly or were made by an American country.

  2. I think Cyndi is right. She said that we can find McDonalds, Subway and other american companies like that all over the world.
But I'd say it's more important to think about the american culture, the american way of life and how it affects us.
But does the american lifestyle really affects us? I'd say YES! We can watch american films and TV-shows the whole day. We see how the americans live is, or how it is shown in the TV and often foreigners try to life like that because they often look up to the USA as a state. That's because of the political influence of the US. Sometimes, they also look up to the americans.
So in my opinion people often want to live like americans and try to copy their culture and their way of life.

  3. Yeah, we find american culture in our everyday life. There is Burger King and Subway in our hometown. I also know about a lot of american tv-shows or the most famous example, hollywood movies. American sports like basketball or baseball are at present in our medias, too. Even there is opel, a german car producer wich belongs/belonged to GM.
So all in all we have a lot of american culture in germany.

  4. I don't think the US is all that great to look up to in certain countries and certain minds. It's cool that some of The US's stuff is national and everybody can see and get a taste and a glimpse of it. I know some countries don't have it all that great where they are and want to come here and that's understandable, but ME as a citizen here i'd rather go and see the world and its seven wonders and all the beautiful landmarks there are. I think some countries have it better than we do

  5. I agree with all of you. I agree with Flo not just people wants to live their lifestyles like Americans but they also want to live in America and get a job over here. That's why the immigration rate increases since the California Gold Rush. Clothes and other materials that are made in the U.S. worth more than other cuntries.

  6. What I mean Marisa, is that the people often talk about the US and that they respect it because it has much influence in the economy and in politics. Me, myself, I don't look up to the US but what I do, is being interessted in what's happining in America. And I'd say my interest is higher that the ones for other countries BECAUSE of the influence. I'm sorry I haven't brought it up very clearly but what i wanted to say is that other countries and other people look up to the US because it's one of the most powerful countries in the world and their country is not as developped as America.

  7. As America is the #1 economic power in the World, it's impossible to find a country where part of the US or US influence is not present. We make it a goal in a way to use LDC's as a way to make profit and produce goods. Almost as if we're "using" these countries.
